Continuing from last weeks post, my weekday brunch outings are steadily gaining momentum. Simply put, there’s just something cheeky about brunching during the week. Kinda like, PHHHHT conformity? Forget dat!!
So yeah, this weeks outing brings us to Barry coffee and food in Northcote. Dining with a childhood friend from Adelaide, it’s been on my wishlist since I discovered it’s the sister restaurant to the ever popular Pillar of Salt.
The spacious cafe was bustling on a Tuesday morning, with a lively atmosphere and a good range of seating options.
Having stalked their IG images prior to visiting, this diner was ready.
Raw broccolini, kale, avocado, black pearl barley, chilli, basil, activated almonds, coriander, pepitas, soft boiled egg $17
WELLNESS come at me!! All my favourite ingredients made an appearance – kale, avo, activated almonds and of course a perfectly boiled egg for that all important protein content. There was a velvety smoothness to the dish that was truly euphoric, with a good mix of crunchiness derived from the almonds and broccolini. It’s just my opinion, but it could have used a little more chilli. Be that as it may, it was a terrific dish, and one I would definitely have again.
The service was extremely efficient, and the staff were rather knowledgable. We had several waiters during our visit, and most of them were marvellous.
Barry’s great. With a creative menu, delicious and reasonably priced food, it’s well worth the trip out North.
Barry, once a stranger, now a friend.
Until next time, happy eats 🙂
