Higher Ground

From the team that brought us Top Paddock and The Kettle Black, Higher Ground caters to the CBD of Melbourne. Opened for breakfast/brunch and dinner, I went for the former on a Monday morning.

Since Higher Ground’s opening, I’ve heard numerous reports of how stunning the interior is – and I can honestly say, I couldn’t agree more!! Split over several levels, the interior is nothing short of spectacular. Tall ceilings, majestic glass windows, combined with an elevated flair, the setting is utterly exceptional.

DSC_1740Service was equally impressive – staff were efficient, professional, and very welcoming.

DSC_1724Barley porridge, goats milk anglaise, caramelised apple, prune, crispy brik pastry and pecans $16.50.

This is one of the best porridge’s in Melbourne. The barley was cooked perfectly, resulting in a beautifully nutty flavour, and teamed nicely with the goats milk, pecans and fruits. Ideal portion size too – feeling comfortably satisfied upon completion.

I must mention, I was siting at a long bar like table, and was fortunate enough to sit next to some wonderful company, in addition to making a new friend! (Haha yeah, I’m not shy).

Higher Ground certainly exceeded my high expectations (pun intended). The entire experience was beyond par, and is without question one of the best breakfast spots in Melbourne. An absolute must if you haven’t been.

Until next time, happy eats 🙂
