For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been intoxicated by the alluring offerings of a bakery. Whether it be a fresh loaf of bread, a sandwich, or just a good ol’ pie, bakeries and I have a special relationship.
It was a weekday morning, when I decided to hit up Tivoli Road Bakery for a sandwich. This popular lil’ bakery has been on my list for quite awhile, and I was curious to see if they’d meet my high expectations.
Quietly located on Tivoli Road in South Yarra, it’s a gem of a location – with plenty of parking options, and close to public transport. The cafe itself offers indoor and outdoor seating, the latter being the pick if you want to bathe yourself in the morning sun.
My sandwich – roast chicken, almonds, carrot, mayo, rocket, soy and linseed bread $11.
The sandwich was excellent. The chicken was roasted perfectly & mixed well with the fresh salad, whilst the almonds gave a delightful crunch. Of course, the bread was absolute mastery, with the texture and flavour being second to none. No doubt, one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time.
The service was marvellous – enthusiastic and friendly, it honestly makes all the difference when the staff have a great attitude!
The bakery had a great feel to it – atmosphere was warm and homely, and it’s the type of place that you could easily make your regular.
Tivoli Road Bakery well and truly exceeded my expectations – food, staff and location all top notch, it’s easy to see why Tivoli Road is regarded as one of Melbourne’s best bakeries. Definitely a must if you’re in the area.
