I absolutely adore brunching in the city, as it reminds me of a lil’ staycation, only, focusing purely on the food element – duh.
Enter Liminal – the latest venture from The Mulberry Group (ex Top Paddock, Higher Ground and Kettle Black).
I had to laugh at myself, picture this – it’s a weekday morning smack bam in the middle of Collins Street, people in designer suits EVERYWHERE, and here’s me showing up in my dirty Timberlands, baggy pants and puffy waterproof jacket – haha like bitch, please.
I gotta say though, they’ve done a marvellous job with the design and fit out – everything about it just screams good taste. Modern, sophisticated and extremely stylish, giving off a professional yet comfortable vibe.
As for the food, my waitress recommended the whipped buffalo curd, honey, bay leaf on toasted pumpkin brioche $16. Having already seen the menu online, I was glad she suggested this as I was probably going to order it anyway.
The dish was amazingly delicious. The pumpkin brioche had this incredible banana bread like texture, combining flawlessly with the velvety buffalo curd, with the honey providing just the right amount of sweetness. Completely and utterly mouthwatering.
Kudos to the team as well – the two staff members looking after me were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely efficient. No doubt, this is a well oiled machine (especially since they’ve only been open since the beginning of May).
However, it’s worth noting that there was somewhat of a delay for the herbal tea that I ordered, and the staff member (different to the previous two staff members looking after me) did seem rather confused as to which table the order was going to.
Well, there you have it, my visit to Liminal was an absolute pleasure. Aside They’ve truly done a terrific job, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the city.
Until next time, happy eats.
